Suicide – Right or wrong?

Suicide, the word seems to be little awkward and is generally considered to be a crime. There can be many reasons to commit suicide. This article highlights one of the major problems i.e suicide which is rarely discussed.

India reported 1,33,623 suicidal deaths in the year 2015 as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This figure is strange as more than a lakh people committed suicide. Out of the total suicide, female suicide accounted to 42088 and male suicide were 91528 and rest 7 were transgender. Let us look at some statistics of suicides in India as illustrated in the following table which highlights the top 10 suicidal states.

Table 1: Suicidal deaths in top 10 states in the year 2015
State Suicidal Deaths
Maharashtra 16970
Tamil Nadu 15777
West Bengal 14602
Karnataka 10786
Madhya Pradesh 10293
Telangana 10140
Kerela 7692
Gujarat 7246
Chattisgarh 7118
Andhra Pradesh 6226
Source: National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

As it can be interpreted from the above table, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are leading in suicidal deaths. The above table also states that the problem of suicide is present throughout India from north to south, west to east which is an alarming situation. Let us look at the top 10 major cities in India having a wide number of suicidal deaths which is illustrated in the following table.

Table 2: 10 major cities with suicidal deaths in the year 2015
City Suicidal deaths
Chennai 2274
Bengaluru 1855
Delhi 1553
Mumbai 1122
Pune 873
Ahmedabad 869
Hyderabad 728
Surat 663
Indore 528
Nagpur 483
Source: National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

From the above table, Chennai is the leading city with highest number of suicidal deaths and can be said as the suicidal capital of India. The five major cities of India namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are in the list of top 10 cities having suicidal deaths.

There can be many reasons for suicide. Some of the reasons can be work pressure, extra marital affairs, love failure, household atrocities, depression, stress, no hope for survival, examination pressure of failure, hunger, lack of basic amenities to live, poverty etc. However, the exact reason behind people committing suicide is difficult to find. Some people say that it is the state of mind which allows people to take such step. Yes, it is the mind who decides what to do and what not to do and it is ultimately the decision of people who go to end their life. This is startling but is the harsh reality.

Life is precious and should be lived and enjoyed while facing the bad moments. Nothing lasts forever, whether it is good or bad. Approach should be to fight and not to quit and end up one’s life. One needs to be strong enough to tackle the situation. It’s amazing to know that there are cases where people come to end up their life if failed in some activities which they have desired most. But is committing suicide is right? Life doesn’t end if you fail.

Please share your views on suicide. Those who commit suicide, is it right or wrong? What according to you is the reason behind committing suicide and what steps can be taken in order to curb suicidal deaths? Please share your thoughts.

Not in a mood…

Not in a mood to write anything.
What should be motto behind writing?
The mind has become little tired.
Better not to write something weird.
Eyes are blinking continuously.
Losing my energy slowly.
I think to take some rest.
Coming back, I will enjoy the fest.
Seems like I am sleeping.
Better to avoid writing.
It depends on the thought process.
Better to avoid forceful writing process.
Good days to all.
Hope I will wake up soon from sleeping.
As…
I am not in a mood of writing.

* Don’t forget to tag up to ten other bloggers at the end.

Here are the questions and their answers:

How did you get into blogging?

I wrote my first poem which was in Hindi when I was in class IX and again a Hindi poem in class X but unfortunately I lost both of the poem which I was unable to preserve. Due to that anger I stopped writing for two years. 🙂 But there was always a voice coming from inside to write. So I started writing again when I entered college for persuading engineering and initially I wrote in notes on facebook for few months and was getting reviews there. I created my blog in February 2011 from one of my friend suggestion without knowing what a blog is. I posted my first post in April. 😦  My  Hello World post which is default is still active and have preserved it yet and will be preserved in future too. 🙂  I was not posting frequently and there have been big gaps of 6 months also but slowly and slowly I learnt what is blogging and how to use it and  I am here and just want to continue this journey as much as  I can. 🙂

What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?

I don’t consider myself in a position to give advice to novice blogger’s as I am not a veteran. I am a novice and still in learning phase, just learning from many prominent bloggers.

What would be your dream campaign?

Spreading awareness regarding your  own inner strength which people usually fail to recognise.

Do you have a plan for your blog?

I don’t have any specific plan as of now. Just wanted to keep going and share among you all the wonderful and respected bloggers.

What do you think about rankings?

I think every literary piece is having something special in it. Writing is a creativity and every literary piece is unique and has something to offer.

Following are the nominees for this interview challenge:

All the nominees are free to accept/reject the interview tag. The above nominations are not in any particular order. Hope to have your response. Happy blogging!… 🙂

The Rules

  • Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.
  • Answer the questions set to you and then you may create your set of questions for your nominees.
  • Nominate Others.

Answers to Erika’s Questions

  1. What do you think when you look at the night sky?  I think about the beauty of the entire universe. How beautiful it looks in the night when stars shine like pearl. I think about the creature of the universe and its beginning and end.
  2. What makes you smile? Well, I don’t have any particular reason for this. I smile whenever I want to. Of course , I laugh when there is something funny. But having nothing to smile make me smile too. There are times when I laugh unnecessary and my friends starts to laugh just because I am laughing and that too makes me laugh even more. 🙂
  3. What are you doing to provoke a smile in other people’s face? There are lots of things I can do that even I also forget sometime what I did to make others smile. I crack the jokes and most of the times my jokes are enough to make others laugh and if it does not work then I relate the person to something and grasp a funny story at that moment only which definitely works. This is the reason also that people enjoy my presence. There are lots of other thing also I do and then it will become a never ending list. When I have thought of making others laugh, I just do it. Hahaha… 🙂
  4. If you could turn into any animal what would it be and why?  I would like to become a bird so that I can fly from here and there. From mountains to ocean, from hills to terrain and see and experience the ultimate beauty of nature.
  5. What is your biggest dream? I will reveal when I will accomplish it. 🙂

I am nominating the following wonderful bloggers for this award.

My questions to nominees

  3. Everything has pros and cons. So is there anything you dislike in blogging world ? Share if any.
  4. What is your take on my writing ?
  5. How you celebrate the happiness and sadness ?

All the best to all the wonderful bloggers. These award posts just give a chance to know more about each other. So would be eagerly waiting for the responses from your side. Happy blogging. 🙂
