Concluding without Analysis

There are different circumstances in life where we always come to conclusion after analysing the facts and figures, situations etc. In fact life is always full of incidents. Every moment we are facing an incident or better to say some happenings which are always a part of life. Each and every scenario has its own aspects. Life is never the same. Every time we take some decision based on some facts or scenario and come to a conclusion. But do we really always  come to a conclusion by thorough analysis of all the aspects and facts?   If you want to know the answer then you have to analyse first and then come to a conclusion.

Yes what I am pointing here is one of the general and most neglected behaviour and that is “Concluding without analysis”. There are many circumstances where we bluntly come to a conclusion without analysing anything. There are times where we generally come to conclusion without knowing the reality which should be avoided.  No one is perfect in this world. Everyone is having some faults and this is the law of nature and we cannot change it.

analysis

In this hectic and busy life, we meet and interact several person in our surrounding or in office. Its not always easy to feel comfortable with everyone because everyone is having his own comfort zone.  Everyone is having his own way of thinking and that may be good or bad. Many people have the tendency to taunt always and hurt others without any reason and enjoy that situation and laugh uselessly. There are many things which we cannot control but there are few things which we can control and behaviour is one among them. Our behaviour is that part which can make or break the life and coming to a conclusion without analysis is also a part of our behaviour. We should not posses the tendency to judge others regarding their work, talent etc. At the same time we should not predict what he/she will do or become in future  because remember Dr A.P.J. Kalam was an orphan and he used to sell newspaper in his childhood and he became the “missile man  and President of India”. Narendra Modi was a tea-seller in his childhood but he is the current Prime Minister of India. There are many other examples too.

The tendency to arrive at a conclusion is good only when we have analysed the facts or otherwise conclusion without analysis will happen which will in turn can be dangerous too. Concluding without analysis can happen for sure by mistake or in hurry but that doesn’t mean we should make this a habit. There are circumstances when such kind of attitude is not good to the person bearing it. It depends on us how we proceed on such situation. A simple example is if you are not well and decides to go to a doctor for check up. The doctor first collects the information from you like your name, age etc. and then checks your body temperature, blood pressure etc. and asks from you regarding your symptoms or if necessary he may opt for some blood tests. Based on these information he comes to a conclusion that your are suffering from this disease  and prescribes the medicine for same. Does he prescribes the medicine as soon as you reach without knowing your situation? The answer is no.  In the same way we should also avoid coming to a conclusion without knowing the reality.  Concluding without analysis can give you fun for a short term but for the long term , it is a disaster.

  1. Excellent post Ashish. I agree 100% with what Somali ji has written in comment above. Guard our thoughts always. Pujya Swami Dayananda gave gave a wonderful phrase “Trust pending Understanding “. Not to have blind faith but trust the scriptures at first and then understand their message and learn. You have said similar thing. Let’s not judge or criticise (come to conclusions) without first going an intelligent analysis. Well written. Thx.

    1. A warm welcome to my blog Kamal… Good to have you here… 🙂
Thank you so much for appreciating the effort. Yes one should always guard his thoughts. The phrase of Swami Dayananda Saraswati is ultimate and that should be the focus of everyone before concluding anything. His book “Satyarth Prakash” is also a gem.
Thanks a lot for reading. Keep visiting… :-).

  2. This was great post, Ashish. Often, jumping to conclusions has led to disasters. But personally speaking, I am a very intuitive person which often doesn’t allow for much “analysis” or at least something that can be explained anyway apart from a “funny feeling in my tummy”. There is a fine line to balance here.

    1. Thank you so much Prajakta for appreciating my work. Its great to know that you have a fine balance while coming to conclusion. I too agree that there are many things which doesn’t require too many analysis if they are simple enough. I think it totally depends on situation which we are facing…
Always a pleasure to read your view. Thanks again for your wonderful response… 🙂

  4. Nice analysis Ashish. We keep confronting situations in life and we keep taking decisions, sometime we have time to decide and many other times we are forced to take a decision without much time in hand. Thinking through before taking a decision is a wise thought, but we need to data to analyse a situation for taking an informed decision.
Yes, many times it is the intuition that makes a better decision than the analysis…not an easy process. I agree..

    1. Yes, there are circumstances when we don’t have enough time to analyse before coming to a conclusion. It is not an easy task to always conclude fast and that too whether it may work or not. It is also true that no one can guarantee that analysing the facts can give better results always… 🙂
There are times when abruptly coming to a conclusion have not given the desired result. So it depends on situation.
Thank you so much for sharing your view on this aspect. I am honoured that you liked my post. Keep motivating… 🙂

      1. Yes Ashish, these are some dilemma we all live with, circumstances is what decides how we take our decision. Data may not always back a correct decision, it may only guide us in going the right direction.
Excessive analysis may lead to paralysis, so drawing the line between using and how much to use data is an art though we use the science behind the data pattern.
Indeed though provoking where to draw the line…

        1. Yes… there are some dilemma which persists throughout the life and sometimes the experience gained from the past also help in making the decision. Excess of anything is harmful and there should be a proper balance between analysis and conclusion. But it is also true that demarcating line which defines the upper limit between analysis and conclusion cannot be measured by an instrument as we don’t have any such machine available. There are few thing including this like how much he/she gives respect etc which cannot be measured… that can only be felt. 🙂
Thank you so much sir… It is always a pleasure to be a part of discussion with you… 🙂

          1. Yes Ashish, we always look for data to make the decision data driven, but there are situation where we take decision based on intuition and gut, and such decision makes a huge difference.
Yes, we need to balance between the analysis and conclusion, it so happens many times excessive analysis leads to paralysis of thoughts…indeed measures are key to progress and success of most things in life, we cannot manage without the measurement…
            My pleasure…

  5. Loved this post. But will it apply to relations? I’m a bit confused. It is just that when we got certain doubts and the other person isn’t giving us any reason to stay shouldn’t we just reach to a conclusion that we must leave? When the other person isn’t making any efforts to clear our doubts, we only got one way and that is to leave. That is the conclusion.

Don’t know if that made any sense, but it was the first thing that came to my mind.

    1. Relationship are like glass. Sometimes its better leave them broken rather than to hurt yourself by trying to putting it back together…
You can try to get the clarification on your doubts for once or twice. If the response is not optimal then I think there is some kind of compromise that person is making to be in the relationship… or a kind of burden for him… Zaroorat se zyada kisi ko bhaav bhi nhi dena chahiye… 🙂
I have left few of my folks and have never turned back because of such kind of attitude because its better to be with no one rather than to be with the bad one… 🙂
Thank you so much for reading and liking the post Hasmeet… 🙂

  6. Ah! As I have been involved in the tedious job of analyzing all the facts for a major decision, I appreciate this post so much right now!! It is funny, but on this particular decision I had to make I almost adopted the opposite of what you said…things, thoughts, feelings, were being shown to me for a long time, and I simply chose to ignore them. I am not sure why, exactly, but after much time and soul searching, I have come to a conclusion. I am very happy we connected Ashish 🙂

  7. This is very debatable post! Like should i read, analyze and then comment or just read and comment!?
Conclusions, they come with agreement and disagreement, as we all have our own thought process. Sure to think about. Nice post. 🙂

    1. Yes, every one is having its own perspective and that may or may not vary depending on the situation. And of course this is a never ending debate but if it is possible to analyse then that should be done, I think. There are circumstances when we conclude in hurry and that may not be optimal.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful and valuable views. Always a pleasure to know your thoughts… 🙂
